Purpose:
Refractive surgeries are one of the most routinely performed ophthalmic surgeries worldwide. Evaluating the possible complications of these interventions, especially those who impress quality of life or will produce future functional impairments is vital.
Methods:
200 patients were evaluated about type and degree of refractive error, keratometry of cornea, visual acuity with and without glasses and best corrected visual acuity, stereopsis by contour stereopsis test . These evaluations were repeated after surgery by Allegretto (all wave right) EyeQ400 Alcon device.
Patients were further divided into two groups: less and more than -5 diopters myopia.
Results:
Ptient stereopsis before , one , three and six months after surgery are as follow respectively : 35.5±22.5, 37.3±23, 34± 19.7 and 31.8±18 seconds of arc.
Stereopsis changes was only not significant between preop and three month postop stereopsis( P=0.08) but all other parameters showed significant changes (p< 0.01).
Between the two groups of patients with less and higher than -5 myopia, only the stereopsis before and one month after surgery were significantly different.
Conclusion:
Patients stereopsis six months after surgery not only does not show any decline, but also shows improvement and this is more obvious in higher myopic ranges.
