Purpose:

The aim of this descriptive , Cross-sectional study was to determine distribution prevalence of different complications of Lasik surgery

Methods:

Firtst, 1000 medical record of patients underwent LASIK surgery were studied randomly and systematically.

Results:

, 1.6% of the cases suffered from complications. The most common complication was incomplete flap. There was no association between the complications and sex. Most of the cases were in age group of 20-24 year and most of the complications were seen among patients older than 40(9.5%). The patients whose central thickness of cornea was 580-600 micron encountered with more complications (7.4%). Increasing of ant. Curve diameter of cornea, the complications of LASIK surgery increased. For example, the rate of complications in patients whose ant. Curve diameters of cornea were 8-8.5 micron, was 8.1% while it was reported as 3.1% in those whose ant. Curve diameters of cornea were 6-6.49 micron. Most commonly , the complicated eye was right eye (62.5%). Although there was no significant association between the complications and type of refractive disorder, but 37.5% of the complications occurred in the range of ±(3-6) D. In 50% of the cases, the best modified post surgical vision was above 9/10. Against our expectation, 93.8% of the patients didn’t use any kind of lenses. According to this study on complicated patients, the means of Simks astigmatism in lowest and highest levels were 43.07 and 44.4 respectively. The irregularities of 3 and 5 mm were. 1.01 and 1.5 respectively, also, means of ABFS/PBFS and white to white were rported as 1.2 and 11.8 mm respectively.

Conclusion:

In comparison with other studies, rate of complications was not so high among our cases (1.6% vs. 2.1% in Brazil, 44% in Saudi Arabia and 8.6% in Los Angeles).
