Purpose:
Evaluation of the repeatability of keratoconus indices measured by the Pentacam in keratoconic patients
Methods:
Sixty-five eyes of 34 patients with keratoconus grade I to IV were imaged with the Pentacam. The repeatability of the device was evaluated using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC).
Results:
The ICC of the max-K, min-K, index of surface variance, index of vertical asymmetry, keratoconus index, center keratoconus index, index of height asymmetry, and index of height decentration was 0.985, 0.994, 0.982, 0.942, 0.977, 0.962, 0.711, and 0.913, respectively (all P values <0.001). Nine out of 65 keratoconic eyes were diagnosed to have no keratoconus based on the Pentacam keratoconus score.
Conclusion:
The repeatability of the keratoconus indices measured by the Pentacam was acceptable and desirable; therefore, they can be used to evaluate the progression of the disease in clinical settings.
