Purpose:

To described the case of retinal injury by a toys laser pointer
|

Methods:
|
A 16 years old male Iranian student worked with pointer one months ago.
He noticed a black spot in visual field approximately 2 weeks later from this events.
|
|
Results:
|
chorioretinal atrophy with visual loss and paracentral scotom
has remaind on the fovea.he held the toy approximately 25 CM from cornea nearly 3-6 seconds.
|
|
Conclusion:
|
The violet light from light- emitting diodes is a potential hazard for the retina .
,and thus , direct viewing in to the beam should be avoided.Children , especially,should not be allowed to play with such toys without being carefully instructed about their proper use and fully supervised
|
