Purpose:

The goal of this study was investigation about disorders of retina in patients who were suffering from retinitis pigmentosa and consumers of chloroquine by using the electroretinogram set which was carried out on referred patients to Qods polyclinic in 1391.

Methods:

In this corss-sectional descriptive and analytical study, 25 patients with history of chloroquine consuming and 25 patients with retinitis pigmentosa were investigated and compared through sampling method. In addition, electroretinography was performed on the patients to evaluate retina function, and the results of the groups were compared. After field data collection and gaining all the information needed, the data was analyzed using SPSS program.

Results:

According to this study, the average voltage and time delay in chloroquine users group was greater than the control group. The changing domain of voltage in the control group had a significant with the retinitis pigmentosa patients group, while the changing domain of time delay in the control group was not significantly different from the retinitis pigmentosa patients group.

Conclusion:

According to the results of this study, electroretinogram test can be used as a diagnostic method in patients with retinitis pigmentosa and chloroquine users.
