Purpose:
To evaluate the one-year results of myoring implantation in keratoconic patients
Methods:
In this prospective study, myoring implantation was performed on 30 keratoconic eyes using the corneal intrastromal implantation surgery method
Results:
After one year, UCVA (P<0.001), BCVA (P=0.003), and spherical equivalent (P<0.001) improved significantly. The decrease of the max-K (P<0.001) and mean-K (P<0.001) was also significant but the central corneal thickness did not change significantly (P=0.220). The decrease of the corneal hysteresis (P=0.534) and corneal resistance factor (P=0.817) was not significant either while the endothelial cell count (ECC) showed a significant decrease of about 8% (P=0.006).
Conclusion:
Based on the one-year results, myoring implantation in keratoconic patients has a good safety, efficacy, and predictability. It does not affect the biomechanical properties of the cornea significantly and the decrease in ECC following this procedure is minimal.
