Purpose:
|
The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy of the diode laser on visual acuity in patients with diabetic retinopathy.
|
|
Methods:
|
This retrospective clinical trial include 50 patients (65eyes) with diabetic retinopathy.visual acuity were measured before and 3, 6, and 12 months after diode laser therapy.
|

Results:
|
This study was done on 50 patients (65 eyes) in valieasr hospital of birjand. 27 (54%)of patients were male and 23 (46%) were female. The results of this trial showed that the visual acuity of 25 eyes, increased from 1.21 logmar befor laser therapy to 0.83 logmar 3 months after intervention. The first visual acuity of 30 eyes was 1.1 logmar befor intervention that increased to 0.92 logmar after 6 months. In 64 eyes, as well, first visual acuity was 0.73 logmar that reduced to 0.88 logmar 12 months after intervention. These results were not statistically significant(p>0.0.5).

Conclusion:
|
According to these results, patients visual acuity in logmar, 3 and 6 months after intervention improved; but did not 12 months after that.
