Purpose:
|
To report the clinical findings of retinal astrocytic tumors that showed progressive fibrovascular proliferation in a patient of six years old age
|

This report describe a case of a 6 years old children parent describe the visual complain of their child in both eyes. The systemic evaluation does not show any clinical finding. The visual acuity of right eye was about 1/10 and the left eye had counting finger. Ophthalmoscopic examination revealed astrocytic hamartoma which showed a well demarcated lision on right quadrant of nasal retina accompanied by macular edema and mottling of retinal pigmentey change.The left fundus examination demonstrated a retinal astrocytoma in the right eye that accompanied with marked fibrovascular proliferation in the left eye posterior pole.

Conclusion:

: Although retinal astrocytic lesions of eye generally are stationary, they can sometimes grow relentlessly and cause severe ocular complications. Patients with retinal astrocytic hamartomas should have serial ophthalmic evaluations because of this possibility
