Purpose:

To determine the relation between visual acuity and stereo acuity after correction of refractive error in patients ages from 10 to 37 years old.

Methods:

In this crossed sectional study visual acuity and stereo acuity of 92 patients measured. The near visual acuity measured with snellen visual acuity chart and stereo acuity measured with TNO and Butterfly test before and after correction of refractive error at 40 centimeter distance.

Results:

In this study the relation between visual acuity and stereo acuity before and after correction of refractive error was significant (P<0.05) .In patients with uncorrected refractive error, as well as reduced in visual acuity and stereo acuity, was coordinated. There was significant difference in stereo acuity after correction of refractive error by testing stereo acuity with TNO and Butterfly tests (P<0.05).After correction of refractive error, stereo acuity increased by TNO and Butterfly tests. The increased of stereo acuity by TNO and Butterfly tests in myopic patents were more than hyperopic patients. The increased of stereo acuity were significant in correction of refractive error more than 3.50 Diopter (D).

Conclusion:

Correction of refractive errors, improved visual acuity and streoacuity.The improvement on stereo acuity in refractive error more than 3.50D was significant.
