Purpose:
|
to report a survey of the knowledge and practice of computer users at Guilan university of Medical sciences
|

Methods:
|
This cross - sectional study was performed on 280 cases of computer users. The sample was selected using a stratified random sampling. Data were collected through a questionnaire consisted of three sections: demographic, knowledge and performance. Data were coded into the computer and then analyzed using the software spss (16version) and using descriptive statistical and analytic statistics (t-test, ANOVA, chi-square).

Results:

The mean age of users was 38.1 ± 8.05 years. They were mostly female (66.8%) and the majority of them had bachelor's degree (54.3%). The average of daily working hour with computer was (4.6 ±2.17). Average percentage of knowledg e was 41.39% ± 19.38. Only37.3% referred to ophthalmologic center for examinations.In 95% of the samples, setting the refresh rate, and in 87.1%, setting the eye distance from the top edge of the monitor was undesirable

Conclusion:
|
In this study, users' knowledge in the field of computer vision syndrome was poor and also their performance was unacceptable.
