Purpose:
|
To present the result of cataract surgery combined with endocapular iris ring implantation in patients with oculocutaneous albinism (OCA)
|
Methods:
|
Phacoemulcificatin Cataract extraction and implantation of posterior chamber intra ocular lens (PCIOL) and two endocapsular iris ring (Murcher, 50 F and 50 E) was performed in 8 eyes of 4 patients with OCA.
post operative anatomic and cosmetic results, visual acuity and subjective glare reduction were evaluated.

Results:

In all Patients iris rings were implanted in combination with small incision cataract surgery without any intra or post operative complications. Minimum follow up was 6 months. Besides increasing UCVA and BCVA, all patients reported marked reduction in glare and photophobia after surgery and were very satisfied of their eyes color and reduction of iris translucency.

Conclusion:
|
Implantation of iris ring during cataract surgery is an effective procedure for increasing vision and reducing glare disability in OCA.
