Purpose:

Ocular trauma is a major cause of unilateral blindness. The goal of this research is report of the causes and characteristics of ocular trauma in during 1391-1392

Methods:

n a cross-sectional study patients with ocular trauma who hospitalized in Hamedan Farshchian Hospital were evaluated. Age , sex, type , cause ,time and location of trauma recorded.

Results:

overally 87 patients were evaluated .Mean age of cases were 32+_2.8 (range 2- 83 year )including 61 male and 26 female. The nature of injury was penetrating in 65% of cases and 33 eye injuries were occurred at workplace. Metallic foreign bodies and knife were the most common agents in penetrating injuries and stones were the most common in blunt injuries .The most common type of injury was corneal laceration . All traumatic injuries were unilateral.

Conclusion:

In our study penetrating injuries were more common and cornea was the most common site of injury.
