Purpose:
To compare accuracy and differences of two well-known optical biometers.
Methods:
In this comparative and retrospective study, 62 eyes of 41 consecutive patients who were candidate for phacoemulsification participated and IOL power calculations were done with both Zeiss IOLMaster and HaagSreit LenStar optical biometers. Three patients lost to follow-up (=59 eyes). Mean age was 68 (51-85) years. 32 right eyes and 27 left examined. Fifteen patients were male and 23 were female. Target refraction was plano and the formula was SRK/T regression formula.
Results:
1.Difference in K-readings: p<0.05%
(statistically significant)
2.Difference in Axial Length: (+0.09 to -0.06 mm) p=0.42%
(insignificant)
3.Difference in IOL Power: P<0.05%
(statistically significant)
Conclusion:
There was a statistically significant difference in k-reading and IOL power but no significant difference in axial length between these two devices.
