Purpose:
To measure the repeatability of the Pentacam, IOL Master, Orbscan, Javal, and topography in measuring corneal power in keratoconic patients.
Methods:
In this study, 63 eyes of 40 keratoconic patients were evaluated. For each patient, 3 measurements were performed with each device with 10 to 15-minutes intervals. The corneal power was measured with the Pentacam, topography, Orbscan, IOL Master, and Javal in order. Interclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) was reported for repeatability.
Results:
All devices showed acceptable repeatability in mild keratoconus. In mild keratoconus, the highest and lowest repeatability of minimum keratometry was observed with the IOL Master and EyeSys, respectively. For maximum keratometry, the IOL Master (ICC=0.989) and Pentacam (ICC=0.810) had the highest and lowest repeatability, respectively. In severe keratoconus, the highest repeatability in measuring the minimum (ICC=0.999) and maximum (ICC=0.995) keratometry was observed with the IOL Master, and the lowest repeatability was observed with the EyeSys (ICC=0.906) and Javal (ICC=0.577) in measuring minimum and maximum keratometry.
Conclusion:
All devices had acceptable repeatability in measuring corneal power in mild keratoconus. With the increase in keratometry, the Javal and EyeSys showed lower repeatability when compared to other devices. The IOL Master had the highest repeatability in severe keratoconus.
