Purpose:
To report a case of two keratinized white stick like lesions originating from the peripheral iris and the angle in a young patient.
Methods:
Interventional case report
Results:
A fourteen year old boy was referred to the oncology clinic by the history of small white masses growing in his right eye since six months before. He had no history of trauma or any other ocular problems. Visual acuity was 20/20 in both eyes. A free white fluffy lesion in the anterior chamber and two vegetative hornlike white sticks like lesions, originating from the peripheral iris and the angle was seen. In ultra high biomicroscopy (UBM) a mass with normal echogenicity at the inferior anterior stromal iris and angle was detected, without involvement of the posterior chamber and cilliary body. In an excisional biopsy, all materials were excised. In pathologic examination keratin material with non-viable cells were found. After 6 months of follow up, the regrowth of keratin horn was not ocurred.
Conclusion:
We believe that a keratin horn can be found in the anterior chamber. Dermoid cysts, traumatic inclusion cyst and primary keratinizing metaplastia, or idiopathic origin, as in our case, could be the inciting etiology.
