Purpose:
|
We report the first case, to our knowledge, of a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor of the lacrimal nerve in the orbit.
|
|
Methods:
|
A 65 years old man with a previous history of facial trauma was referred to our hospital with a gradually increasing in his lacrimal gland region of his orbit since 16 months ago. we performed right anterior orbitotomy removing a firm, tan-brown mass measuring 2.8*1.5*1 cm
|
|
Results:
|
The findings were compatible with nerve sheath tumors of the lacrimal nerve.
|
|
Conclusion:
|
that although it is so rare but Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors can be a differential diagnosis of lacrimal gland region masses.
