Purpose:
Central serous chorioretinopathy is a condition typically affecting young adults between 25 and 50 years of age.We had a 11 years old patient with this presentation.
Methods:
Report of clinical findings and imaging studies of the patient
Results:
A 11-years-old boy that he was affected by Chickenpox since7 dayes ago was referred to our center. He declared a recent onset micropsia, metamorphosia, and decreased vision and central scotoma in his right eye, since 3 days ago. Best corrected visual acuity was in right eye 20/40 .The posterior segment examination revealed a central neurosensory retinal detachment in right fundus. Fundus fluorescein angiography and Optical Coherence Tomography confirmed the diagnosis. During follow-up, without any specific medical or surgical intervention,
serous detachment and visual acuity gradually resolved and visual acuity improved progressively.
Conclusion:
We described the first case of central serous retinopathy with chicken pox disease in childhood period.
